1.23 Release Highlights
Hey, Pilots!
One of the most requested features is right around the corner with Update 1.23. Read on if you want to get the first glimpse of our brand new Custom Match mode and learn what changes await the Progress Path.
New Game Mode: Custom Match
This game mode will give you more control of your Mech Arena battles than you ever had before. You can gather up to 10 players and set up a match however you see fit: choose from all available game modes, choose a map, add bots or play with uneven teams. There really is very little you won’t be able to do within the boundaries of established gameplay.
You’ll need to reach 12,800 XP in the Progress Path and Division 9 to get access to Custom Match, but that’s about everything you need. Once the mode is available to you, you’ll be able to create a room and invite other players either through your friends list or by providing them with your room’s ID. Note that only players who have Custom Match unlocked can be invited.
Once everything is set, you can launch the match and enjoy. Just remember, Custom Matches will not provide any Points or Crates for winning, nor count towards Events, Daily Challenges, Achievements, Experience, Feats. This game mode is too difficult to balance and would have made some challenges far too easy otherwise. On the other hand, Custom Matches give you almost unlimited freedom when it comes to setting up your own challenges, homebrew tournaments, setting up streams, or recording cool battles with your friends - be sure to take advantage of that!
Progress Path Update: Random Reward
As of Update 1.23, reaching the end of the Progress Path will no longer make XP you gain in Battles obsolete. After that point, you’ll have a set milestone to reach, and every time you’ll get a randomized reward accessible in the same way Progress Path rewards are right now. This is great news for long-term players!
There are a couple of QoL improvements planned in addition to these two big features, including a FAQ library where you’ll be able to find answers to the most common technical issues and gameplay questions. But we’ll cover those in the release notes and add more details about Custom Match and the Progress Path update. Until then, good hunting in the Mech Arena!
