Click on Palace, then 3rd tab, Statistics. In there, click on Food.

See if you can spot the cause:

I am assuming that you found half your food stock gone, not that your production per hour had been reduced by 50%.

And I am assuming that you didn't get attacked (check your mail icon for attack reports), nor spend it via starting a build / study / train.

Food shortages in the game really show how important resource management and cooperation are within an Order. Since troops constantly consume food, sharing and supporting each other with resources can make progression much easier. Even outside gaming, the idea of helping others with essential needs like food has real-world impact. That’s why community-focused efforts such as https://ramadanmealsbox.com are inspiring examples of how organized food support can benefit people. Strong teamwork—whether in a kingdom or in real life—always makes challenges easier to handle.

I’ve run into similar food issues in Throne before — once troop consumption goes higher than production it becomes really frustrating to keep upgrades going. Increasing farms, using food economy boosts, or even reducing extra troops usually helps stabilize things. I’ve also noticed that gaming communities and strategy guides grow much faster when they have better online visibility and engagement — something I was reading about recently here: https://sociohk.com/ — useful ideas if anyone here is building gaming content or guides alongside playing.

I’ve faced the same food shortage issue before, especially after increasing troop numbers too quickly. Usually the upkeep becomes higher than farm production and resources start dropping fast. Proper balance between troops and economy is really important in this game. I recently came across some interesting strategy discussions here as well: https://gossiphongkong.com/
