Then you'd go through your knowledge trees to see which random tree 'leaves' were reduced and by how much. Example, having 15 out of 15 on section of a tree and now only having 4 out of 15.

Now you explained it , it's an interesting concept, but would it go down well with players, especially with those currently having problems with getting nowhere fast,and suddenly finding the need  yet more reserves and time?

Please keep in mind, this is intended for the top level towns with level 40 being the highest level currently. If Plarium raises the top town to 45 as an example, then this phenomenon applies to top town levels only.

Also, losing portions of your gear was the other half of this concept.

Example: Your gear has suffered 0.91% damage.

You open your gear to see you lost a gem(s) and/or runes. Or materials. Or entire pieces of gear, helmet, weapon, boots etc.

I had partly overlooked that your suggestion only applied to palace 40, since clarified to whatever the highest palace level  might be.

Nevertheless.  what I first wrote, which makes no mention of any specific game progress still holds true, players are already complaining about the problems with upgrading gear and failing in the effort.

Maybe I am wrong  but  I can't  see how many  top players are going to be happy with the loss of gear and gems that has cost considerably to get in the first instance, only to find that they have to be replaced.

I can see the attraction of this from the owners point of view, it is inline with most of the recent updates, where in order to obtain what I believe to be miniscule amounts of improvement, much amounts of resources etc at significant cost  have to be obtained, whereas with no updates there would be no need to do this.

Personally I think this is a terrible idea. I've worked  way too hard to lose knowledge or gear becaue I went to Jot. Or was overwhelmed helping in a siege. Deal breaker for me for sure. I'd be interested in knowing exactly what level YOU are tbh.

Basically what I wrote, but more succinctly.

I aslo wondered what level and motivation there was behind the suggestion.

Could be if your bottom end 40 and loosing to top end all the time.

Also,if you have paid your way to level 40, and done most everything, there's little else left.
