It works like the well-known rip-off traps from the Internet. Almost no real benefit. But because there are always new or inexperienced players trying it out, the providers make huge profits. 

But it's completely pointless for the players.

I invested 273k energy (only sustained attacks up to 585%) and only achieved about 0.3% damage in total.
