You can make it way more expensive than shielding yourself. 

Like if it cost 10-100x more times and the duration is like 30 minutes to 1 hour tops. 

To not ruin the game.. also add only 1 time / day from each clanmember. 

I agree that forgetting the shield is part of the game but alot of people actually leave the game when they loose everything they've gathered since start. 

Its better for everyone to have players active in this game.
