you need to be in the clan before it appeares not before it starts.  the events are usaly dissplayed a day before hand.

I had been in the clan for three days before the competition started and there was another one that started at the same time "completition of tasks" cometition, and that one has been counting my contribution fine. I dont know, unless that particular one had been on the list of pending competitions for a couple of days i dont see why one works and th other one isnt. I just really want one the rewards :s

But we have already known that he didn't get checkpoint awards cause he joined clan after announcement of comp. There is no need for tickets :)
