A box with a secret

Jarls, the mighty Konung who solemnly rules the Place of Power has decided to test our ingenuity and attention to detail. The Konung gave us a box with a strange lock. We can't get it open no matter what we try, but maybe you will figure out how to do it.

Hi Alice, you have to turn the middle part, align the oranges and then you get the answer 2

I hope you'll have a good secret in this box 😁

I saw this a few hours ago and was surprised at the slowness to respond, except its not quite so simple as other puzzles have been perhaps. I hadn't got round to studying sufficiently  yet,

I would say if the answer is as simple as Pilechiefs  its 4.

Franzs answer would appear  not to come to any conclusion.

I  agree with Pilechief, ie I think the answer is No 2. When rotating the middle section only the orange lines can join up, and they then link the two runes shown in No 2.

and I will go with half the meaning of life: ie  2 1

ie rotate inner disk to align orange lines and then rotate whole disk ??

(I like Franz's logic but the yellow lines don't join together and presumably they should)

okay, IF the outer ring is moveable (and not the center) - an information not given in the riddle - THEN the solution will be 1

well here goes.

First rotate the outer wheel counter clockwise to align the orange lines this will then join them to the two runes in box 1. Then press the button in the middle to lock the two wheels together and rotate them both clockwise to put the picture in the center in a vertical portrate position that will then aline the orange lines with the runes  in box  2. and open the box.

So I think the answer is 12.

But then what do I know, could never do a rubix cube either.

Happy Thanks giving all.

I say 2. Spin the middle to make picture of viking upright, then line up the red lines
