1. If you do have spies forget about trapping with ranged gear.

2. If you are going for points and don't mind training millions of t1 each time you should go for a tons of t1. t3 is the othey way to go.

Why ?

I have hero stronghold gear for archer with generic gem for attack/defense/health, who add 60% to my spy too...

I have archer shaman with archer gear but with the same gems... again 60% more... half of the shaman tree is generic too and again some more %

Research are done on both archer and spy

Have less spy that archer but with 2 mil t1/t2/t3/t4, 5 mil t5 and 1 mil t6 spy, i can resist a spy attack, specialy that there is no onslaught for spy, it is city against city...

Until now, it have work good for me... defend against spy or other attack, and offense with spy... yet suck at attack big guys with over 50 bil influence with archer but i am yet only medium size lvl 27 near 3 bil influence...

1.2m march is really a big march... must be from a very big one with a lot of research done... it is probably why i suck at attack, my max march is around 700k

as spy, not a lot of people are doing them... specialy with them being at the top botton of the research tree t6... need to research all other t6 before being able to research t6 spy... for unlock freya, you need to be lvl 30... and lvl 31 for do the rest of t6 spy research

so, i have not yet see 1.2 mil t6... and for anybody below lvl 30, the only way is to buy them in bank package... not my way... if i cannot train it, i don't need it
