click odin shrine, click in town, click the type of troop and choose how much you want discard

There is also the option of attacking  someone  and not bothering if they are killed, which might also be of benefit in the context of the game or events .

This last option (attacking someone) is clearly better, because I remind you that Viking do NOT go to Valhalla if they don't die with their sword in hand !
