There is invader gear that boost lumber, stone and iron production. 

Lumber - Canis

Stone - Barbarian

Iron -  Man-eater

There is also special gear and shaman gear for those resources.

Yes , I know this - but not at the higher lvl's for players that dont have special gear yet. Lvl 50 standard gear helmet Food -- what is it 300% ?

Thats what Im mean - we should have access to those kind 0f % values for all resources at lvl 50 in standard gear or even Invader gear.

Seems like the things you need most is what the game does not give you, therefore you can either take a month to gather it or you can buy it.

Either way- it would be nice to see a better balance for all.

And if you want the really great special gear, then your gonna have to work for it - thats fine.

Sometimes it just gets to the point to where the game is almost impossible - Amount of Resources needed for one upgrade and the time, even with boosters is rediculous . But there is always VISA.

The standard gear was designed before red food wasn't an issue to be concerned with and hyper-farming was a more broadly used team tool. Players wanted to keep positive food gains... The invader gear catered to team players who understood the hyper-farming tactics. 

I doubt you will ever see standard gear give any rss production boosts since the invaders gear already provide it. Spend real money, use gold, or plan on playing for a VERY long time ;)
