There are crystals/time boosts, but those you have to apply on-demand.

Generally you're still better off building nemesis (pathfinders in stormfall) to load infests though.One thing i did notice with this game is the trooper build speed. All other units pretty much line up with Stormfall for the time to produce vs the resource cost with the exception of the trooper vs pikemen.
The trooper builds roughly 25% faster making it ideal for the infestations. this can make a huge improvement in overall army size.
