The Champions Guide under News and Announcements section makes it clear that enlightenment is required for the extra levels at Ranks 5 and 6. This guide is much more informative.

Doesn't mention anything about how it allows increased levels at rank 5 and 6 does it.
It isn't intuitive. The game pushes you to make your first enlightenment at rank 3 through the tasks (which btw are a pretty good intro into how the new content works). When you do that nothing changes with regards the max level. So you learn enlightenment gives a bonus to the stats and nothing else.
It's not a huge thing but why field the same question over and over again when it could simply be addressed by enhancing the in game info?
yes i agree we should have been given the information that you can earn extra levels and emeralds by waiting to enlighten champs

As mentioned last time this question came up - I really don't think the in game explanation covers this clearly enough. Questions about enlightenment are going to come up over and over and over again.
For me, I don't see anything wrong with their explaination. For some reason it is more info than they normally give. My opinion, and I might be the only one. Would help if you point out what it could be, maybe they could improve that guide.

upgraded champion to 5 Stars but only has 30 levels not 35
1 star 15 levels
2 stars 20 levels
3 star 25 levels
4 star 30 levels
5 star 35 levels
why do 1 of mine 5 star champion only have 30?
You have done the right thing
By increasing the Champion's Rank to 5 Stars before Enlightening, you will get many more Emeralds from increasing level.
You get Emeralds at level 30 twice, and can do this again at level 35
A common mistake is to Enlighten too early
