Is there an on-line tool, or game feature, that will tell me the distance between two castles?

Hello, Lord. You can see the approximate distance in miles on the map when you're traveling. Please, check the right top corner of your screen. You can check it there.  

The Pythagorean Theorem.  I've been using it since I started playing to determine the distance between any 2 castles in SF.
