Is it worth the cost of building towers for defense or I am better off with just walls and gates and save my drachmas for other things i need?
Also, how can I help repair another cities towers if needed?
Archon, if you want and you have not yet purchased a craftsman, you can save your drachmas to buy a craftsman more and to improve your city faster.
and to repair the tower from another city just have to visit the city from a friend and if the tower is destroyed, you can repair only one tower
For every 100 points you receive from the City Defense Bonus, 1% will be added to the overall defensive strength of your Units left guarding your City.
There is more to come, all Reinforcements located in your City will be impacted by this bonus!
Archons, by simply building 20 Level 5 Towers you are going to receive 5,000 defensive points, in other words 5,000/100=50% that then goes toward boosting the defensive strength of your Units!
Don't they actively defend in addition to their superior defense bonus ?
Raid reports do show the number of active towers and you do get more casualties when they're up.

You don't build them, you buy them with drachmas...
- Click on your usual "Construction" icon the rigt side of the screen
- Select the "Fortifications" tab
Your towers are there.
Don't you have encountered them already while you were playing the beginners guide quests ?

It is wise to build as much Advance Tower and Gate 1st and final by Wall, having 9000 defence is a pure 90% BONUS defensive to defensive army.
Example a mounted peltast have 600 Defence Stat with the 90% of fortification the little Pony Mounted peltast will have 540 defence bonus on him added with 600 making it toal of 1140 defence.
The fortification is the fastest way to earn high point than Decoration, so spending drachma on Level 5 fortification is worth and PS do not start upgrading a L1 tower to L5 because it cost more......The ENDPapaPete said:

Does it mean that there is a limit on the number of towers ?
I think I've never seen anyone with only towers, which may confirm this, but I was told by members of my coa that there was no limit.

You are limitated to a maximum of 20 towers.
Gates can be only placed to their specific locations, which means you can't have more than 2.
You can fill in the remaining spaces with walls.
There's also a specific achievement granting you a reward for using all your fortifications slots.
