More proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22K = exactly 22,000. Not 22K= 22,298 or 22,013, or 22,189. Just 22,000.

I think the old puzzles already solved should not be available to play....the chances to complete a new one are greatly diminished when they are still live.

The feature is designed like this. The more types of units a player can collect via puzzles, the harder it will be, but the results are worth it.

Such things shouldn't be very easy, Shaz.

Great update! Puzzle features always make strategy games more engaging, especially when they reward unique units. It adds another layer of progression and collection for players. I also run a small informational website called Shiftivate where use rs can easily find their company’s Workday login portals.

Nice update overall. Adding new puzzle rarities and unique unit rewards definitely makes long-term progression more interesting, especially for higher-level players who already completed most standard content. Features like this usually keep strategy games active because players have more reasons to collect resources, optimize decisions, and experiment with different approaches instead of repeating the same routines every day.

I also think systems like puzzles become much more enjoyable when the game stays balanced and runs smoothly during larger battles or events. I was recently comparing performance behavior in different strategy and RTS-style games and found this useful for checking overall gaming system performance analysis and hardware balance during heavi er gameplay sessions.

Looking forward to seeing what future puzzle rewards and mechanics get added next.

The Feature: Cult of Ares Puzzles

This is a collectible puzzle system where players gather Puzzle Pieces from Tablets to complete sets and unlock military units. It's gated behind a Level 50+ requirement, so this is mid-to-late game content designed to give veteran Archons (players) a new progression path.

The Unit Roster (Rarity-Locked)

The Cult offers five units spanning Common to Legendary tiers, each based on actual Hellenistic military roles:

Table

RarityUnitHistorical RoleCommonSwordsmanBasic melee infantryUncommonPeltastLight skirmisher with javelins and a small shield (pelte)RareThureophorosMedium infantry armed with javelins and the oval thureos shield—versatile troops that could skirmish and hold the line

EpicSpartan Promachos"Front-line fighter"—a heavy hoplite-style eliteLegendaryAgema HorsemanElite cavalry; the Agema was typically the royal guard or elite regiment in Hellenistic armies

The unit progression follows a logical military hierarchy: skirmishers → medium infantry → heavy infantry → elite cavalry.

Why This Feature Exists

This is classic retention mechanics for an aging free-to-play game. By 2019, Sparta: War of Empires was already several years old (originally launched around 2014). Adding puzzle-collection systems serves multiple purposes:

Daily engagement loop — Players need to log in consistently to collect Puzzle Pieces from Tablets

F2P monetization path — While you can grind pieces for free, Plarium's model typically allows premium currency to accelerate or guarantee drops

Power creep management — Legendary units like the Agema Horseman give long-term players new advantages without breaking early-game balance

The "Basileus Leonidas" Signature

The post is signed by a character roleplaying as a Spartan king ("Basileus" = Greek for king/leader). This fits Plarium's heavy theming around Spartan/Greek mythology and their narrative framing where players are "Archons" leading city-states.

Accessing This Content Today

Since this is a 2019 announcement for an older browser game:

Free to play: The game remains free-to-play with the usual energy/timer mechanics

Old version: You can still access Sparta: War of Empires through Plarium's portal or Facebook (where many old browser MMOs live). The puzzle feature is likely still active since these systems rarely get removed

Download: No download required—it's browser-based. However, Plarium also offers a Plarium Play launcher for PC if you prefer a standalone client over browser tabs

If you're looking to experience this specific content, you'd need to grind an account to Level 50, which in Plarium games typically takes several weeks of casual play or significant time investment—unless you use the premium shortcuts they inevitably sell.

Bottom Line

This announcement represents a mid-life content injection for a mature F2P strategy game. The puzzle mechanic is a tried-and-true retention tool wrapped in Spartan lore, offering historically-inspired units as rewards for sustained engagement. Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid way to keep the playerbase chasing the next Legendary drop.
