Hi,

I tried to expand the city with five slots.  I clicked on "Friends 10" (I have 0 friends and one Drachma). It said "Unablr to expand your city.  Please try again.  I don't wand to buy Drachmas.  How can I earn Drachmas for free?

The most common way to earn Drachmas is to participate in events, see the "Events" icon on the far left screen sidebar:

It's either "Friends" or "Drachmas" to expand your city (you do not need both); If you go with the former, check the "Hall of Xenia" for an overview of your friend invitations and the Guide (the "?" icon in the toolbar top centre, search for "Xenia") for more info on what friends can do for you. 

Personally, I always opted for "Dracmas" as the simpler solution, but then again I suffer from reactive attachment disorder ;-).

All you need to do is friend request 10 players in-game. You don't have to send requests to actual friends of yours. Get 30 friends and you will be able to open 3 slots.

I've started a couple of events.  How do I know when my armies return home.  They are all deployed on missions.

Troop progress can be tracked at the bottom left of your screen...

If your troops have been deployed as permanent reinforcements or sieges, check the "Protectorates" and "Garrisons" tabs at the "War Council".

As you describe it, the defence was decimated battling Xerxes, as to your offensive units, are they ...

1. Outside the Acropolis (check the War Council)?
2. Inside the Acropolis (check that building)?
3. Did you mistakenly send them to defend against Persians (check battle report)?
4. Did you send them somewhere else (check "Protectorates" and "Garrisons" at the "War Council")?

When I try to upgrade a skill in the Phylarch skill section (agreement signing speed, construction speed boost), I get a blank box with no purchase options to click.  The only thing I can do is click it off.  See the image.  How do I get to buy Agreement Signing Speed lvl. 2?

I reloaded the game, and it works properly now.  Never mind!

The first 3 flags can be purchased for free with friends, 10 for the first 20 for the second and 30 for the third. If you bought one with drachmas because that one jumps and you can not buy it with friends, if you bought the first one with drachmas to buy the second one, it's not 10 friends but 20
