I opened 20 Ancient Shards last night and had nearly the 1070 points required for the Rare tome before restarting the game this morning 8am EST and now only have 40 points! I opened 20 Mystery shards and it showed I got a bunch of points, but the event is still only showing 40 points. Have restarted several times and even tried using my phone

That still doesn't explain why I'm not getting credit for the 40+ Mystery Shards I've opened today. I'm still at 40 points, even though when I open them I get the message showing I'm receiving event points.

Correct. The first one centered around the Ancient 10x on Kymar/Michinaki, and this new one centered around the Sacred 10x on Duchess/Kimi.
Edit: to your edited message, I would restart the game or wait. Sometimes there's lag in points showing up.
