without shards should i even go for the fusion or is it just a waste of time?
can i even get all the fusion fragments without any shards for the summoners rush?

Unfortunately it's likely to be very difficult to get this fusion without shards. We shall see what the schedule looks like but I would guess near impossible without shards. =/
@ OP I am going to complete this fusion without shards. It basically means you need a ton of energy to grind out the scores needed to complete the events and grind the tournaments to place 1st or 2nd
skipping the shard pull ones in the process

I think for folks who aren't later on in the game/doing NM CB at most it's going to be a little tougher :)
I just completed the fusion without shards . My cost was 40,000 energy +/- (to grind tourneys for the win)
1500 gems +/- (to buy arena tokens)
around 100 million silver for the artifact enhancements
I realize most would not be able to do it that way but it worked for me....So not impossible but near impossible? maybe
