The short answer is yes. But it's not really that simple of a question.

Candy is absolutely a top-tier arena nuker, but whether or not you need him is entirely dependent on the rest of your team. If you have other top-tier arena nukers already, you may not need him. There are plenty of other nukers who will do the job too.

Even if Candy is an OG champ, he stil rocks in Arena and many other areas. He defintely is a worthy price for 150 ancients. 

I am saving shards for especially this kind of occasion...as I already have several dupes of Candy, I will not use my shards this time. 

But for everybody who does not have him, it is not a bad choice to go for him.

I am torn as well. I've "wasted" 150 on these events and not used the champ already.   Feels too niche.  But nukers are where I am weakest.  And force as well.  So this is the kind of champ I am theoretically saving for... 😆 

And you don't have Candraphon yet? Seems like as good a time as any, no?

149 chickens and a Candraphon seems like a reasonable deal 😂

It's going to depend on the account, but grabbing specific champions to fill needs (or if they're just too high value to pass up) as you go along in the game is never a terrible idea. Everything is relative. 

Also you're not likely to do better than Candraphon for an arena nuker in 150 ancients during a 2x.
