However, it becomes a lot more important if you have an AOE counterattack buff (the one that only Skullcrusher, Valkyrie and Martyr can provide), because their position does determine the order in which they counterattack. I think the same goes for ally attack, but not sure on that one.
Not really, I have Skullcrusher and when I activated his CA and an enemy deals an AOE attack the order of the champions that do the counter attacks are random.
And I don't have any ally attack heroes, but from my limited observation, that is also seem to be random
