If your Athel still lacks books I don't see why not. You really wouldn't want to build a second Athel.

When people say certain rare champs aren't food, that's not a hard-and-fast rule or anything. They're just saying that those champs have uses. You don't necessarily need them, though, and if you can use them better as food or books, go for it. 

Thanks for the reality check.  I am less than a month into the game and for now she seems like a Goddess.   In a few months I will realize she is another pawn.
