Send a support ticket from within the game. Hopefully they will help you out.

Yup need to send an email to support ASAP.  Also Imma yell at them again about this.  Happens every fusion. 

I am in the exact same situation! I also locked my fusion champions in the Grim Forest because there is absolutely ZERO warning in the game UI about the champions being blocked from the Tavern or Fusion events.

I have been fighting with Support for days. They keep giving me copy-pasted template answers. Agent Victor even lied to me, claiming the generic squad confirmation pop-up was a warning. But in the same email, he admitted they have an 'update scheduled' to fix the UI! They know the system is flawed and neglected, but they are irresponsibly punishing new players for their own careless design.

And it doesn't stop at Fusion. Champions locked in the Grim Forest cannot be used as material for rank-up, cannot be ranked up themselves, and cannot be placed in the Training Grounds either. None of these critical restrictions are mentioned anywhere in the game. This is not a minor oversight — it is a complete failure of in-game guidance, and Plarium is refusing to take responsibility for it.

You are not alone. This is a neglected newbie trap. I am preparing to expose this massive issue on Reddit (r/RaidShadowLegends) and to content creators very soon.

Plarium is currently calling this a "Community Period" and handing out free gifts — but there is absolutely no real communication happening. A true Community Period means listening to your players and fixing broken systems. Not silencing them with templates and gifts while new players continue to fall into the same trap. Don't give up! 💪🔥
