Is there a pattern to flipping cards that will ensure I get Hilvi?

Yes.  Flip all the cards.  

This is my first time to chase a deck event.  I figured it was flip them all but wanted one of the smart forum peeps to give me a better solution.  

There are some statistical breakdowns out there, but the short version is that Plarium has engineered the DoF so that over 90% of the people that go for a DoF Toon will need to flip 38 or more cards to get there.  

As for pattern, the DoF is randomized to each player.  I typically start at the top left corner and just flip in order.

If the point values are the same as they were for Raphael, the stones will be 70/700/3500.  

If Plarium is more generous this time, the highest they have ever been are 90/900/4500.  

If they are uber-stingy, Freyja's DOF Points were 60/600/3000 IIRC.

Somehow this is the case 100% of the time with these events. Always the last card for the last 5 fragments. It's almost like they do it on purpose and move them around while you're flipping.

You make it sound like plarium redefined the principles of mathematics to rig the decks... I'm assuming this was not your intention as I have you in the 10% of raiders that understands basic probability.  :)

Really not one.  Any deck you attempt just plan on maxing. 

Wasn't saying Plarium reinvented Probability, just that they understand how it works and that it was used to design the DoF. The odds are quite high that all cards (or very close to all cards) are required to hit 100 frags, and I have had to max out every DoF where I went for the toon.

Your third clause would be a very safe bet.
