I try to upgrade my champions and lose all of my silver after 1 or two tries, so far I have lost over 1million coins do other people have this happen to them l don't understand why they won't give them back
The exact same reason as when you posted this word-for-word 25 days ago.
Upgrading the level of a piece of equipment is only guaranteed to work up to level 4, after that theres a chance of failure each time, which gets larger as the items level goes up.
Generally speaking, you should assume each piece will take an average of about 1.5 million silver to get from level 1 to 16
