Glyphs.

After spending 2.5m in silver adding 45 glyphs to my main clan boss team I was disappointed to record my 2 lowest scores for 12 months today. The glyphs were all 4,5 or 6 ranked and were hp, hp%, defence, accuracy and resistance. Didn't use speed so not to alter the tuning.

Am I wrong in expecting a small improvement of are they pointless?

I think you need to understand just how small of an improvement you're talking about. Suppose you have an ATK champ and you upgrade a glyph from 3% ATK to 5% ATK. Assume the champ has base 1500 ATK. That translates into a whopping 30 extra ATK. Say you have 250 CDMG and 100 CRATE, and you're using a move that has a 4X ATK scaling. Also say you had 5k ATK before, and after upgrading you have 5030 ATK. Finally, say you had an ATK up buff. Before you'd do 5000 * 3.5 * 4 * 1.6 = 112000 damage, before other modifiers. After, you'd do 5030 * 3.5 * 4 * 1.6 = 112672.

Are you going to notice 672 more damage in that hit? Remembering that number will be even lower due to DEF? Now apply that same logic to 9 items - say all 9 of them gain 30 ATK. That's 270 more ATK, resulting in 5270 * 3.5 * 4 * 1.6 = 118048 damage. Now we see a bigger increase - about 6048 damage. Again though, that number will be lower due to armor. But even just taking it at face value - on a CB team, over 50 turns, that 6048 damage will mean a total of 300k more damage. Will you notice if you go from 70M to 70.3M?

Thanks for the detailed explanation, the benefits are tiny and realistically pointless.

My point wasn't that the benefits would be pointless. My point is that any *individual* upgrade is going to be hard to notice, but that the more of those you add on, the more noticable they become. You may not notice one glyph going from 3% to 5%, but you'll definitely notice a fully-glyphed gearset over an entirely unglyphed one, especially as you start getting into the 6* glyphs.

Don't underestimate the value of glyphs.  While glyphing for a CB damage increase may show little benefit, glyphs are actually a very precious resource in Raid and bring tremendous benefits.

I finally geared my Mikage yesterday, and I want to maximize both her speed & accuray.  She has a speed substat on 6 pieces of gear and an accuracy substat on 4 pieces of gear.  All of her gear is 6 star gear, so that gives her a maximum of 48 more speed and 64 more accuracy, just from the glyphs.

I won't burn any glyphs until CVC, but let's say I actually get 75% of those numbers, which is 36 more speed & 48 more accuracy.  That can easily make the difference for going first and/or landing debuffs....
