The problem cured itself.  

I am missing a bunch of legendary heros I had and gear.  And my gem mine is gone and my upgrades in the castle

First step: make sure you're on the right account/logged into the right one. that sounds like the most likely issue here. 

Second step: if you're still having issues, contact support either through an in game ticket or: https://plarium.com/en/support/

Perhaps tapping your PC screen is the problem, maybe its not a touch screen.
