Hi, I would like to understand the difference for champs required for DEF, and sometimes for RES. I would say that these two are interchangeable and the difference is not huge. But is this true?
Res , resist debuffs
Def , lower the amount of dmg you take from hits

Nope, that pretty much describes it.
Resistance - Magical attacks
Defense - Melee attacks
Both useful but at different times.
