I am, obviously, a new player and about to receive this "poison specialist" but I can put him or Tigersoul in that spot and nearest I can tell the guy is a total catfish. Do I just throw him in the bin or what?
The bin. You can feed him, and months later feel like you lost nothing of value. Some endgamers flex by putting him in their Clan boss and show crazy numbers, but that's just to show off. There's a reason why he's universally hated by the players : he sucks a$$ through a straw.

I kept him at 40 for early faction war(didnt have a lot of skinwalker early on) then once i actually needed food , took him to 5star lv1 and fed him(was no champ training otherwise i would have taken him to like 5star lv20-30(for pts))
Yes overall he's food unless you like collecting every single champ .
