🆕 Long-awaited Hangar Showdown updates are set to be released in just two weeks on April 2nd. Here's what you can expect in the update:
⚔️ AFK players will be controlled by bots: This means that having one team member AFK doesn't necessarily mean the team will lose.
⚔️ All 10 battles will be available for free: Players won't need to spend their A-Coins to play all 10 matches and receive rewards.
⚔️ Hangar Showdown battles will be unlimited: When a player finishes their first 10 battles, they will be able to continue playing as much as they want. However, the following matches will be unrewarded.
⚔️ The Star requirements and bot population for all the Leagues will be updated: These tweaks must help to make the game mode more balanced.
⚔️ The rewards will be redistributed: The rewards will be tweaked a bit as well to fit the new battle limit, but overall balance will remain approximately the same.
For the most part, this seems like a path in the right direction. I would also suggest that both team members get the same ammount of points no matter if they win or lose. I see too many trying to step in and steal a kill just to get the extra points. It's suppose to be a team match, so why would they get different amounts of points?
AFK players will be controlled by bots: If anything, let the bot control the AFK one, but if you lose because of this, don't let that one count towards their 10. Obviously, if they win, they would want to keep the points form it. It seems the fair thing to do because we all know that bots can either be killing machines or just pace back and forth doing nothing. Hopefully the AFK person doesn't get points for this, and it monitors people and they can get banned from taking advantage if it happens too much.
All 10 battles will be available for free: This is much needed, so thank you for listening.
Hangar Showdown battles will be unlimited: I would suggest to make it so that ones playing for their daily points only play against others that need their points. And when you are done, you play against others that are also done. I will go a step farther than that, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but keep the first 10 battles as only random team member. But once you are done with your points for the day, then unlock it for friends to play as well. I say this because none of my friends play this game, and with how everything with this game has been so far, I don't feel the need to make friends here. I just think it would be fairer this way.
The Star requirements and bot population for all the Leagues will be updated: This can be a good thing as long as it is done right. There have been tons of good suggestions, so hopefully you get it right.
The rewards will be redistributed: Again, as long as it's done fair, it should be good.
Thank god for this update. I'm looking forward to it. But I'm worried that limited opportunities for rewards will still incentivize people to try and manipulate the matchmaking.
Unfortunately it doesn't matter what you do, people will always try to manipulate the matchmaking. You can meet so many people who are tanking in just regular control point clash, not for any particular reason besides they can't seem to play fairly, I guess they're not skilled enough, even with very often paid items. Unfortunately some people are just scumbags

That friend play idea is actually really good, that could seriously bring a good few players to actually play the mode regularly

You're right there but I see far fewer people tanking in CPC and non-tournament 5v5 deathmach than in tournaments and hangar showdown. Give people incentives to manipulate and it becomes a much bigger issue I feel. And I guess you already do have incentive with CPC and 5v5 no tournament in combat points, but still far fewer people do it.
But yeah people will always play dishonorably unfortunately. You can tweak the matchmaking to prevent it. My favorite thing to do about it is to shame the people who partake in tanking.

Thanks for the support! 🙌 We’re keeping a close eye on matchmaking and any potential abuse, and will continue making improvements where needed.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! We hear you. We’ll keep monitoring and improving the system to make it fairer for everyone.

Well yeah when there are rewards involved tanking skyrockets, it's just ridiculous that it even ends up existing outside of major rewards to me.
Unfortunately tanking will always evolve whenever the matchmaking does to combat it. I thought I had a little while ago was maybe that if someone is doing really well in tournament, they get flagged for a moderater to check on. Of course them there's the other problem, given so many people are doing it, giving something like a ban may end up banning TONS of people, even if scumbags..
This mode feels dramatically out of balance. While I understand the concept of using ones hanger to the fullest; the lack of any sort of balancing is off-putting. Most of the battles I have participated in were unequivocally mismatched. I think having a match making range would feel More playable. The opponents I was matched against were phenomenally over powered in comparison to my hanger.
I like all the changes (with the rewards rebalance TBD) except for this one:
⚔️ Hangar Showdown battles will be unlimited: When a player finishes their first 10 battles, they will be able to continue playing as much as they want. However, the following matches will be unrewarded.
Either it shouldn't be unlimited or you can keep playing as much as you want to try and grind out the rewards. People who are overpowered shouldn't be able to gatekeep the rewards by crushing people after they have already gotten them. It's already an issue with the matchmaking where you end up playing the same person multiple times in a session if you don't strategically pause in playing to allow that player to play someone else.
Also I really hope this addresses the problem in matchmaking. I am routinely matched up against players with double, triple, and even quadruple my hangar level with a bot teammate. It's an extremely negative play experience especially when every match matters and every loss can lock you out of a reward tier. If you can just shrug and move on after you get crushed and still have an opportunity to get the maximum reward tier it wouldn't be as bad but as it is now it's extremely frustrating.
