🛰️☁️ It’s time to unveil the story of our next Mech Arena Map - Skyship 11!
Skyship 11 was, ironically, only the 10th Skyship produced. Number 6 was skipped because of superstitions held by the manufacturing CEO. Designed purely for the Mech Arena sport, Skyships were the solution to a difficult logistical problem - how to efficiently transport Mechs to the different Arenas across the globe. Skyships weren’t originally designed to carry Pilots as well, after all people have more options for transportation than giant robots. But one incident changed everything.
When Skyships first started to be used to transport Mechs, Pilots would travel to Arenas separately and regroup with their equipment on-site. But then G-Lock had a bright idea. He stowed away on a Skyship and tampered with his opponents’ Mechs. When it came time to battle, they malfunctioned, buying G-Lock’s team valuable time to take the lead. While nothing could ever be proven, Pilots suspected foul play and took to traveling with their Mechs to keep an eye on them. But that doesn’t mean that sabotage doesn’t still happen.
Machine Dynamics is an incredibly diverse company. It’s developed everything from AI programs to almost-catastrophic colliders. It’s also behind the renowned Guardian Mech. But its greatest achievement is Skyships. Using cutting-edge anti-gravity technology, Skyships cruise through the air at impressive speeds. A special type of force field ensures that all cargo, and crew, is kept on-board. The beauty of the Skyship 11 Arena is that it isn’t fixed to any one country. Floating high above the clouds, it can visit all four corners of the world.
But when Pilots travel together on Skyships, tensions can run high. Particularly after a brutal battle. One particular day, things got heated when Asami accused Nova of tampering with her equipment. The women piloted their Mechs and a full-blown fight broke out on deck. A Skyship engineer livestreamed it and the views poured in. Sensing an opportunity to capitalize on this fame, Machine Dynamics converted Skyship 11 into its very own Arena. Now instead of transporting Mechs to battle, it hosts them.
We hope you enjoyed flying through the lore of the Skyship 11 Arena. Stay tuned for more stories behind the Mech Arena Maps!
Great job Joey! My team and I enjoyed your poverty, keep it up!
