The unwinnable chase

i

So I had to call it short yesterday and actually see how far ahead first place would land. At 12:00am (+8 time) the user in first position wasn't even on the list.

Taking this score into consideration there are a few things to highlight:
-if we assume every round was good (with a minimum score of 250) that's roughly 90-100 games straight.
-if each game was only 2 matches with no over time, that is a solid 6 and a half hours of gaming.

Straight up, I can't compete with that and won't waste my time trying to get anywhere close to those number.

With limited points in TDM or Capture, I will probably be playing this significantly less now. Which absolute sucks because I'm really enjoying this game, but there is no way I'm going to legitimately waste my time chasing an unachievable target.

Mate, drill down into his hanger. Check to see if he actually has the rank to score. Compare it to the maximum damage to see if he is a cheat. I was in your situation and it turned out the player who won was cheating. I never got any compensation so it was pointless any way. To be honest, tournaments are not worth the time and effort.

6 hours a day playing is pretty intense.  Not saying there are not people out there who would do that but I would do what PSammut01 stated and check the guys hanger.

Could it happen....sure, it's just really unlikely and in part unlucky if you get someone like that in your bracket.

Check his hanger and let us know.

(anyone else have an issue with double inputs when trying to post from a mobile device?)

This happened last Tournament too and the problem I have with checking details are:
1) not my job - There really should be something in place that checks game time against points or something similar. If I start scrutinising each winner with bulk points, where does it stop?
2) there is no pay off for me pretending to be a mod for a game that is trying it's best to coax money out of me without giving me a balanced and fair game to begin with.

What I think it comes down to is the ability of the Devs in creating a balanced system. This game has been out for over a year and looking through patch notes, a few things have been altered but there hasn't been any significant benefits to any changes made. It's just made things 'different'.

I have reported so many players in the last 2 weeks for absolutely legitimate reasons (wire frame hacks, one shot beams, infinite ammo ect.) and as far as I can work out, the players are also their own umpires in this game.

I want to love this game, I really do. But the chat function is trash and unmonitored (multiple languages in English servers, soliciting minors, buying/selling a-coin...), The matchmaking is a bot filled unbalanced mess, and the purchases compared to working for the weapons are literal months of work apart.

Surely the framework for a good game can be seen here. It just needs an entire redux from the ground up. I'm a marketing exec for one of Australia's largest media companies... It's my job to break things down for clients so they can maximise their potential profits and this would be a brilliant opportunity for the Devs to reach out and get some quantitative and qualitative research results.

There has to be something we (the players) can do to increase the quality of gameplay beyond blind reporting and micromanaging potential cheat accounts.

I haven't participated in this week's tournament and my time on this game has dropped from 3-5 hours a day to only a handful of games.

I can't be the only person that has done, or is doing this. Client retention for these games is vital to it's longevity, but there doesn't seem to be any incentives or game modes that actively try to retain players.

With that, once players have obtained the maximum number of free tickets, something else should be used as compensation. Maybe 500 credits per ticket? Anything would be better than collecting items from crates that are 100% useless.
