Are tournaments worth the effort?

I played the last tournament to masterclass level. I had to play approx 10 hrs to win this. The same mission over and over.

I am really after those ever desirable A-coins which you need to progress in this game. The reward is 1200 A coins.

To win I had to by 4 rounds of 20 tickets which cost me 400 so my reward was only 800 A coins.

To me, the reward doesn't reflect the amount of effort of time required to win.

I believe it needs to be a minimum of 4000 A coins and a guaranteed rare skin to be worth that amount of time.

Also, tournaments should absolutely be free to enter. The requirement to purchase tickets with A coins is just another way to shaft loyal players.

If developers decide to be more generous, I think could work wonders in increasing the player base.

I don't think I will play tournaments again unless it's worth the time.

My thoughts only, what do you think??

This was actually talked about recently in regards to if/how tournaments/divisions should be restructured.

My personal preference is something similar to the below outline which in all honestly was taken from another moba style game.

  • The ranking ladder is divided up into tiers from 1-10 with 1 being the highest and 10 being the lowest.
  • Each tier has a different reward value except for tier 1 which has both a reward value and a placement value for final ranking (ie. 1st, 2nd, 3rd,4th-6th, 7th-10th, 11th-20th, 25th-100th, 100th place plus for each server or tournament assigned player count.
  • In tiers 10-2 each win provides points based on performance.
  • To increase tier rank you must either A. win 5 games in a row or B. accumulate 100 points (figure each win gives you approximately +15 points and each loss is -10 points
  • The ladder runs for 5 or 6 days.

The idea here is that those players who have near maxed hangers will advance quickly so they do not disrupt the regular ladder.  Additionally, it rewards performance rather then who plays the most.

Not saying it is perfect but I did enjoy the competitive nature of playing  tough opponenets with similar loadouts as me.

You could also designate that in certain tiers partcular weapons/mechs are restrictive.  For example, players cannot use railguns, long-arm 10s, mortar 12s in tiers 10-7 and the same is true for brickhouse, zephyr, redox.  The only become usable in higher tournament tiers when they are unlocked.  This would also help level the playing field a bit and give players something to spend resources on for past weapons they are deemed worthless.
