All jokes aside, how did you get up there?

Likely Stacking-Respawn Glitch.  In short if you and a buddy pick a spot to respawn a different mech without leaving spawn you end up stacking.  You both can do this repeatedly over and over.  In this particular map there must be a bridge highenough up that allows you to walk on it.  I believe this is an issue that is being addressed in a coming update.

Ya this happened at the beginning of a match.  Some smaller bot ran in front of me and my panther started to spaz out.  I ended up on the ledge way TF up there.
