Call of Duty's matchmaking, hmmm

Uh oh. What am I doing talking about Call of Duty in the mech arena forum? Hopefully the title is self explanatory. We're talking about matchmaking again today.

Well I've not been playing call of duty and was out of the loop for a while. Found out watching a video that Activision has a diabolical matchmaking system in place for call of duty. Apparently they've got an AI which tracks their players' emotional states in real time. And they use that in conjunction with matchmaking to shift player's emotional state into one in which they're more likely to purchase micro-transactions.

And I've just had a thought. What if that's what plarium is doing with mech arena. What if that's why there are apparently no guardrails on SP differences in matchmaking? What if that's why matches seem to be heavily influenced by bots a lot of the time? What if that's why those things haven't changed all these years? Players already hypothesized plarium were doing this. Activision proved it's possible or at least that companies could be diabolical enough to attempt such a thing.
