Disc Launchers secretly overpowered without mods
I'd just like to share a little something I discovered playing on my own veteran account recently. I've not been using mods and chopping it up with disc launcher on it against other no mods users.
This is the build I have
You need the implant to get the damage out of it I think, and you can maybe drop the radius implant for another mech implant, but I would have not guessed that this weapon is secretly still broken in some situations.
This weapon curves in such a wide arc it's easy to remain behind walls and batter your opponent around the corner. They work on lots of maps new and old. I don't think people invest in the implants these days so at least most don't know. Still genuinely one of the best weapons in the game without mods. Possibly the best.
They NERFed it TO THE GROUND and it's still broken. They made it so the splash radius doesn't deal extra splash damage to the flanks, and so it does less splash damage the further from the center so it'd be a lot less useful against multiple targets. That just made it so you don't need the radius implant. They NERFed its damage outside its optimal range so it doesn't act as a missile weapon but that doesn't matter either. It can't do everything anymore but it's so good at what it does you don't need it to do anything else.
Try disc launcher without mods and a high level pilot and damage implant. You could smoke your opponents.
It would be cool if it got a buff to damage multiple ml shield mod layers so it could be used to counter the ml shield. This is part of a bigger idea to both buff some pre-mods weapons and introduce different sorts of specific mods counters so we don't just have a bunch of general mod counters. And bring disc launcher back of course as it's a classic weapon.
