A Solid Game with Room for Improvement – More Mechs per Tier & Better Currency Balancing Needed
Mech Arena is actually a solid game, but it could benefit from some major improvements. Specifically, there should be more than one mech available per tier that can be purchased with credits. Additionally, I believe they should implement a system where some items don’t require the full price in A-Coins, but instead can be bought with a mix of A-Coins and credits.
I think it would be a great improvement if Mech Arena allowed players to transfer credits into A-Coins and vice versa. This way, players could have more flexibility with their resources and wouldn't feel as restricted by having to earn one currency over the other. For example, if someone has accumulated a lot of credits but is short on A-Coins, they could convert some of their credits into A-Coins to buy what they need, and the same could apply in the opposite direction. This would make the game feel more balanced and rewarding for all players, no matter their progress.
One of the biggest issues with Mech Arena is that most mechs and weapons are priced at 3,000 A-Coins or more. For casual players, it can take up to a month of grinding to earn enough A-Coins to unlock just one new mech or weapon. This creates a huge barrier to progression, especially for players who can’t dedicate hours every day to the game. It feels unfair that it takes so long to save up for these items, especially when they don’t feel easily attainable through regular gameplay. To make the game more accessible and rewarding, I think the prices of mechs and weapons should be lowered, maybe by around 20%, and for legendary items, 40%.
Another issue with Mech Arena is the disparity between the rewards casual players get from the regular season progression versus those who buy the season pass. Casual gamers who don’t pay for the pass are limited to a small amount of resources, making progression feel slow and restrictive. On the other hand, players who purchase the season pass are showered with much larger rewards, creating an unfair advantage.
It’s clear that the season pass is designed to incentivize spending, but removing nearly all of the credit rewards from the regular season track for non-paying players feels a bit extreme. It’s not wise to completely lock these resources behind a paywall. At the very least, casual players should be able to earn around 50% of the rewards that paying players get from the season pass.
In Mech Arena, every new mech introduced seems to be legendary and often overpowered, making it hard for casual players to compete. When new mechs are consistently released at the legendary tier, it creates a gap that’s difficult to bridge without spending a lot of money or grinding for months. Casual gamers who don’t have the time or resources to get these legendary mechs are left behind, as these mechs are usually significantly stronger than the lower-tier ones. What the game really needs is a wider variety of mechs across all tiers, including common, uncommon, rare, and epic, not just legendary.
One of the most disappointing changes in Mech Arena for me, is the removal of rewards from the Fortune Vaults. Previously, opening these vaults offered valuable rewards like mech skins, 400 a-coins, and other useful items, making them exciting and worth the effort. But now, there are no rewards at all, which feels like a major step back.
For the small events right now, the typical rewards are barely worth the effort – you often get a box with just 1,000 credits, 3 A-Coins, and a few blueprints for mechs or weapons that you’ll likely never use. This makes participating in events feel like a waste of time, especially for casual players who are grinding just to get a few minor rewards that don’t really impact their progression. To make events better, the prizes need a serious overhaul. Instead of these minimal rewards, it would be great to see more substantial payouts like 50,000 credits, 100 A-Coins, and more valuable blueprints.
Also, this is very important - In the shop, a much more generous selection of free rewards that actually make a difference in a player's progression, is much needed. The shop should offer far more valuable items and currencies for free, such as larger amounts of credits (like 10k or 20k), A-Coins (like 25 or 50), and mid-tier or epic mechs and weapons. These rewards would allow non-paying players to feel like they are actually earning meaningful progress.
