How about a event in which clan members can earn points for their clan that would allow their leaders to unlock slightly better versions of weapons/mechs?

When unlocked players can donate acoins and credits to make these weapons availible to them if they have the corresponding weapon/mech. for example if you have auto cannon 6, you can unlock auto cannon elite 6,  these elite versions could come with the effects of some mods already applied like max ammo capacity while having slightly better damage or maybe special effect, nothing too big however.

The event would be like 5 against 5 death match, but with the added feature of allowing clans do challenge each other for extra points at the cost of the lossing team having some points removed instead of gaining them. Of course only clans could join this event and clan players can play this event with out other clan members joining them. 

edit: Doing this would allow for clans to matter more, but also make players more active. It would also allow plarium to re-use a lot of assets instead of making completely new ones..
