After the Kingdom of Yakai had been overtaken by Demonspawn, many young men and women were forced to serve the armies of Siroth. Carnage, betrayal, and senseless cruelty were commonplace. But many Shadowkin conscripts sought to escape the yoke of their dark masters, and though some died in the attempt, more than enough escaped to join the ever-growing ranks of rebellion.

Alas, not everyone managed to escape before committing terrible deeds in the name of the Dark Lord. Those rebels whose conscience was stained by the blood of the innocent would often don a ritual crimson mask and consign themselves to spearheading the most brutal battles in search of redemption. Thus, the Bloodmasks were born. These warriors form the vanguard of Shadowkin hosts, where their grim determination and heavy armor allow them to pin the enemy down while their allies deliver the coup-de-grace.
