Match What?
Kudos to Plarium for running ads to attract new players. That's great. The player gets in, slugs it out -- cool graphics! -- finds a clan, raises a platoon of champions ... and then the matching system. If we are to believe the power rating for a champ, a group of champs, a clan ... what do we suppose happens when that new player and his 41 million power clan enter Clan vs Clan against an opponent who comes in at 205 million? That's 5x the power lined up against them. How eager is that player to return after signing off once the 205 million power clan achieves 538k while theirs is at 58k? At this moment, I am part of that 205 mil power clan and I hate this matchup as much as I hated the last one when we were against a clan with 480 million power. We lost, of course. Just like the 41 mil clan with (obviously) new players will to us. How many from that clan hurry to log in tomorrow? The match up system is much the same throughout the game and it's time to address it if retaining new players these ads are designed to garner is of any importance whatsoever.
Retention happens when players put down the control and go to sleep planning the next approach because that last fight was anyone's win because the opponent's power was within 15% maybe 20% at max of them. Power differences of 500% raises a question mark regarding FAIRNESS, challenges every reason to INVEST whether time, $ or both and sends the message only established players will excel and to become established one must endure many mountains unclimbable, hundreds of match ups with zero chance at winning ... all a waste of time in a game bloated by grinds everywhere else.
Being FAIR with RESPECT for the player either happens or it does not. Currently it does not and retaining new players is a pipe dream as evidenced by the turnstyle in our "up and coming" Clan. Instead of a new commercial perhaps spending some on a dev who understands those two concepts -- even if a temp hire -- would retain what exists.
