Mastering Epics

So I'm approaching (or at early stages of) endgame. Can complete all content except a handful of areas in Soulcross Hard. So my question is:

Do you shell out the resources to mastery up epics to complete some of these super restricted areas? Or are some of the stages so tough you need a specific champ(s) to actually clear it, so I just gotta wait to pull them?

Would like some input before I start taking some sus epics into mino lol.
