Credit where it's Due: Grim Forest is actually Awesome!
I was concerned about this game mode given City hasn't been a great experience. I love the Gear from City and the loot, but it was very frustrating with a lot of issues. The limited Champs for stages and the re-gearing, the bottlenecks... hitting a stage where you have like 4 garbage champs as your only options...
That being said, Grim Forest is actually REALLY Fun! Not to make a super long post, I'll just do the bulletpoints:
- Clan Members screenshotting their maps so we can put them together to help each other
- Vampire Survivors/DotA/LoL system with the Cards, Curios and Vendor
- RNG of the Champs that can be used (which honest I thought I'd hate but actually made it a fun challenge)
- Getting to face Champions as Bosses to see what that is like... some make for really scary bosses!
- 30 Orbs per day and the amount of options for travel
- Every "New" boss I've faced has been a decent challenge (despite being cheesable in some situations)
- The "Redraw" Mechanic and the Vendor Shuffle to swap in Champs was a great idea... if we were locked into our first choices for a whole MONTH it would have sucked lol!
(EDIT: I have just found out the random "Fight" spots are actually random, not static. Disregard below)
I'll have more feedback later but the main "negative" so far is the RNG of Squares/Chests seems to actually be Static. Which chests turn into Mimics and which Squares generate a Fight seem to be the same across the entire clan... I'm sure this is for balance purposes and while it is nice to be able to give clanmates a heads up, I hope this changes.
Also, would REALLY be useful to Zoom out more for better screenshots lol
But yeah, Great Job Plarium! You really nailed this one and we're loving it so far!
