Adding more fuel to the fire in LA

I know, I know. At this point, I'm just beating a dead horse. No one on the Plarium team cares or has any intentions of actually fixing the problem. But, people continue to post evidence of the problems and nothing gets done.

Well, I have very good proof today. We as players have been told numerous times that at the start of LA season, the match making can be wild as people get mis-matched compared to other players with records until season scores begin to average out. Well, the season is almost over now and my son got matched to someone with a score that wasn't even close to his. I've helped him improve his team and to help match his team to min/max the gear that they needed. Even so, he faced someone with a LA score over twice his and their LA season score was nearly +200 than his. So, I would think within 50 would be typical and within 80 would be rare. So, I am greatly disappointed to see someone get matched out of their league so late in the season.

You know, if you're going to continue to gaslight us and say that there have been improvements made to LA. At least show your players that effort has been made to improve your poor and failing matching system.

I am gonna go with a rare move for me and actually defend Plarium a bit on this one.

The overall LA score is not factored in for Seaons at all, so that is totally irrelevant.  So, onto Season Score: +/-100 is the cutoff for normal matching and when you are matched outside of +/-100 you will lose fewer points for a loss if your score is lower and gain fewer points for a win if your score is higher.  That is the chief way they tried to (partially) alleviate the pain of the mismatches.  At no point did they say those matchups would be eliminated and a 200 point difference is not really very much when players are already in the thousands. It can still be hundreds more than that.

....plus your son won.

Ah, it's true that my son did win. Again though, with coaching from me in getting him geared right.

However, I've not heard about the "over 100" rule yet. But if what you say is true, the points he gained was the standard 9 for being in LA gold.

Also, while I agree with you that there are "some" players with seasons score over 1000, that's not even typical. Those players with LA season score over 1000 are in the 5% of the krakens/whales that play. I'm in Gold 4 and once I get my 5 wins in the day, I move on. With that in mind, my LA season score is around 650 right now with 3 days left. I would say that's typical as I'm not spending any extra money of LA refills. While I have no numbers in front of me to prove it or not, I'm currently sitting at 241 battles for the season. Looking at the leader board for the season (top 100); the lowest season score right now is just above 2000. However, the bottom guy has an account of a player power over 90mil with 346 battles. But someone about them with a player power of only 10mil, has had to put in 692 battles. Obviously, their W:L ratio is much different. But just taking the players from 100 to 90, the average number of battles is 500 (331 the lowest and 912 being the highest). So, those players with a score of 2000 have on average used 3 LA refills a day. The average/typical player isn't spending that much in LA I would think. Again, without actual player numbers vs. season score, I can't make anything other that a hypothesis for a guess.

Still, if there is a rule that says if you get matches outside 100 score your lose doesn't hurt as bad, then why with a win would the standard 9 points be given?

a full breakdown of the underdog system for you:

as you can see, it's only applicable to matches wherein a lower ranked player loses to a higher ranked player. if the lower ranked player wins, it's just treated as a normal match. as to why, the system was put in place to soften the blow in the event of an uneven match. if the lower ranked player won then it likely wasn't much of a mismatch, despite the gap in score.

Thanks Carpe for this information. It's the first time I've seen it in the years that I've been playing.

However, I HAVE to complain that winning against a much higher ranked opponite should NOT be treated as a normal win. If the point difference scale awards less points for a win, then the reverse should also be true. Rewarding a player with the odds stacked against them should be rewarded higher.

I won't play the "tokens are free" game with people. If you match against someone that's 301+ points higher than you, it still costs you a token to play. Even if you only loss 1 point to your score, that's a loss to claim your daily chest. Of course, I'm applying logic to this and by the Gods, I've learned a long time ago that logic and reasoning do not seem to apply when it comes to games and companies. It's still a shame that players are not rewarded according to the difficulty they are able to overcome.
