The Grade Update is an update that nobody likes.

The Grade update has done irreversible damage to Mech Arena's game design, the powercreep is sky high, the balancing is non existent, low tier items are now horrible. Trying to use off Meta is hell, every new mech has Crowd Control for some reason, the skill floor is at its lowest .Nothing good came from this update. The Mech Arena community will never be positive, because Plarium built Mech Arena to be as toxic as possible, which made everyone constantly mad, IT IS PLARIUM'S FAULT FOR FOSTERING SUCH A BAD COMMUNITY. I don't care if this post gets removed, this MUST be said. We cannot grow as a community if we can't face the uncomfortable truth.

As soon as they released voidghost I knew I was never going to enjoy mech arena again. I can see there's people that love all the stupid deliberately broken crap they keep releasing and eat that up and throw their money at plarium for it. They've not stopped releasing it despite all the people saying "stop releasing completely broken crap that you just have to NERF later". Stupid mechs like seeker have yet to be reworked because despite it pissing people off all the time there's people that buy it who defend it as it is saying "it's fine it has counters" because this dumb toxic broken stuff is fun to them. And it gets people talking about mech arena I guess IDK. Voidghost is so stupidly broken plarium NERFed it quick (but not before the crate rush ended because money) and were forced to walk it back because people wanted it because it was broken and got pissed off, especially because plarium (not deliberately according to them) totally screwed up communication on the matter. But for people that didn't get voidghost who keep losing to it are again pissed off by it. I can observe this from a position of neutrality because I've got no personal financial or emotional investment in mech arena since I didn't even want to find out what it was like playing against voidghost so I quit when it released. I think plarium finally hit a breaking point with this one. Voidghost was clearly too overpowered to not NERF. But there's always players who are adamantly against NERFing things. And people who make purchases in the game don't like to see them devalued, especially so soon after release. I think this would have played out still if the grade update never took place. The grade update is just salt in the wound.

Mech and weapon grade update. You used to be able to use just about any mech or weapon and be reasonably competitive. Then the devs decided "grades have to mean something" so ever since the grade update every higher grade eclipses the one below it in power. They essentially NERFed a bunch of equipment people had purchased and upgraded and offered no compensation.
