The reality is a bit different.. take Savant 16 on a jumping mech, add legendary implants (optional), legendary pilot (optional) and start shooting from some hideout left and right and you get 10 kills in 10 seconds.. Use Volti for same purpose and it cant even kill 1 in 20 seconds because it has cooldown time and the damage is insufficient to kill most mechs.
It feels overpowered until you try to play it.. i think its ability is more or less useless as a main tool.. it is good at finishing wounded players, otherwise not mych of any use, unless we talk about hangar showdown

I'm talking no or miniimal/ no canopy mods this thing is stupid. I wonder why outlaw's ability needs to be 100+ meters and go through walls I imagine this thing and seeker are why.
At least against those jumping mechs I can use my own guided weapons. At least they can't use those through walls.
Camping builds are stupid in general. But camping abilities that are 100+ meters and go through everything are the absolute most completely braindead of all.
I am sure that Volti will not be part of my main hangar, I struggle to pick mechs and Volti for sure is not top of my list.. but if I had to play normal map and I needed mech to get rid of annoying players I would for sure pick Volti with some guided weapon to do the job.. I dream about Seeker in my hangar, that will be used for that purpose for lower ground.. And I used Eclipse to kill Guided enemies, but im not very impressed.. I think my top mechs will for sure consist of Salvor, because for me his healing ability is something incredible, he just needs a good weapon.. And probably Lacewing will get into top5 too.. I just like jumping mechs too much... Lancer was always one of my favorite, but it adds to much SP power to hangar at pink level and still doesnt really have huge HP.. I also dont think that I will ever replace Outlaw.. his ability is too important if you have to fight Citadels or Deathwalkers.. When I get Seeker he will for sure make it to top5 as well.. So here is 4 already... but I would love to play Nomad, Surge, Parasite and Deathwalker.. then also Citadel of course but it's just too powerful, it's not because I like it. Deathwalker is obviously strongest of them.. I am not a fan of Surge but it's basically fast Zypher and I liked to play Zypher.. So I will struggle to pick between Nomad, Parasite and Deathwalker.. I may even consider them instead of Lacewing or Salvor.. but I guess purely for fun and out of boredom.. for now I still dont have them 5 :)
Volti is pretty great in lower SP and hangar showdown league 2 and below. As you progress, it becomes less or not useful due to mods and better options. I'd pass your feedback onto the team. Maybe they balance it in the near rebalance windows 😉
yeah at low SP and league 2 hangar showdown it's absolutely stupid.
Volti isn't that bad. It is just annoying to get hit with it and see your life dropping and you can't do anything about it.
It's really that bad because at low SP and without mods it's pretty much guaranteed to drop your HP by about half or more. At that point it's no longer a "finishing ability" you can just use that as your main damage. The damage is too high, the ability lasts too long, the range is too long, and there is absolutely 0 reason a damaging ability should be going through walls.

I don't know who thought this stupid thing needed a buff. I said it was dumb when it happened.
But if they'd rework it so its ability can't go through walls then that'd mitigate a lot of the annoyance this thing provides for me.
stupid or not i have it and i dont use it :) for me artillery and volti is the same thing whether it goes through walls/roofs or not - a stupid weapon for stupid people with no skills.
Personally I agree. Current artillery is bad for the game.
But it used to be easy to avoid or mitigate the damage before pilots and before fuse mortars. How it was before then actually wasn't bad for the game instead it pushed matches forward so it was actually good for the game if anything. Punished campers and forced them out of hiding.
You can't avoid or mitigate the damage of volti's ability except for with specific mechs, making it in my opinion worse.
While volti is a very mindlessly campy mech, there are other things that are better at camping than it is. Namely many guided weapons, which can hit you when the one firing them is completely unexposed.
Now volti's ability can scale massively. With no ability implants, it kinda does very little. Stacking duration, damage and tick rate it becomes so insane, you always see bots doing it.
If you do get volti'ed, best idea is to get near some ally (ideally a bot), as that'll significantly reduce the duration.
But toxic camping is not new. Seeker with maxed frag 8s is very common at low level and disgusting overpowered (really the MM should put them against stronger opponents so they can't one-tap everything), and a pair of helix, even low level, can do a stupid amount of damage for their energy capacity (seriously, it says like 50k total damage and yet I get hit for like almost 200k, wtf?)

That's another thing I hate about volti is to avoid the damage you have to sabotage your teammates and make them take damage. Insanely stupid.
And the thing about guided weapon camping is it can be done with volti as well. And it makes it even worse. Like Volti with Gemini 8s cause one is a braindead and toxic camping mech the other is a braindead and toxic camping weapon so you combine them you have an uber braindead and toxic camping combo.
