Stopping Tourney Play For 1/2 Season (At Least)
I am a very competitive person, both leisure and non-leisure. Some of my work associates do not get along with me due to this. But, one thing I rarely do is raise my voice to my wife.
I did that the other night playing Mech Arena's tournament while she was asking me a simple question.
Due to this, it's not worth it to have the BAD STRESS because you can't control an outcome of a tournament match going against a team that averages 9-10k+ SP above you.
I'm going to let these boys and girls do their tournament thing, climb out of where I am (Master I), and/or get bored, AND THEN, maybe I'll take part in tournament again.
Besides, when you are above 15k+SP, you do not get matched up with players as often as you do for lower SP. In my opinion, the sweet spot for playing the matches is between 3-9k SP. The reasons?
- More players.
- Less insane bots with full mods that are far more aggressive.
- Players often experiement with more builds and tactics instead of having to stick with only a handful of mechs and weapons while follow a certain routine.
- No worries about, "I had no chance of winning." Where, instead, if you didn't play as well, you know it was all on you (which is OK).
- Easier to do events for the rewards.
- My wallet is much happier with lower expenditures instead of worrying about "keeping up." I only spend now because I was interested in a new mech or weapon release. And even then, I only wait for the lower rank versions. This gives me more control for upgrading due to mech and weapon performance.
Unless the tournament issues are changed to better suit more of the community, this will probably be what I'll be doing going forward. I'm sure there are many that have the same sentiment. I just might even stop playing tournaments completely (just like that other mode starting with H...).
With the way it is, tournament will just be for the few, not for the mass.
