A thought

I've been playing this game for quite a while now.  Started around then end of October 2022.  I've been very dedicated.  Never missed more than 3 days due to vacation.  I finally, for the first time, took a two week break, logged back in a couple of days ago.  I noticed something....

I was calmer when I wasn't playing.  I've realized just how bad this game really is.  The balance is ok, its not great as there are definately true "best to pick" mechs and weapons, but its not horrible.  The matchmaking though, that's just junk.  And honestly, the devs don't care.  Now I'm certain that people can point to changes in the last few months and say that they are trying.  But these words are hollow.  Why?  Its easy, you should never be matched against someone who over gears you.  In the last 3 days, I've been matched up against so many opponents that have a squad power of around 2x what I've got, its not funny or some annomoly.  Understand, I'm talking about squad power, NOT hanger power (hanger power means jack and squat during a match).

Another thing is that the game clearly doesn't want you to win anything more than 50% of your matches.  If I win one or two matches, I'll be put in a situation where my opponenets have so much more squad power that its impossible for me to win.  Basically, I'm punished for winning.  That should NEVER happen in a game.

I know this messsage won't really go anywhere or do anything.  I've accepted that for the most part.  I've seen moderator activity on this forum go from multiple posts a day to one or two posts a week - if we are lucky.

There is a lot more that I could say, and would if I thought anyone at the company was going to listen (there's a reason I've gotten pretty silent on these forums).  I just thought I should say, if you've been playing a game daily, and after over 3.5 years realize that it is what makes you angry, frustrated, and snapping at your family every time they talk to you while you are playing - you probably aren't playing a good quality game.

I still haven't decided to completely quit, but I am reevaluating this game.

Well said!

As I occasionally try and remind folks, don't play the game if it is no longer fun for you. It's as simple as that. Don't be in the relationship if your main motivation is "I'll fix him/her" :-). Be in it because you enjoy it and, because it's a game, do your best to give feedback to help improve it without losing your head.. or your joy.

I do get that it's hard to quit a game that you want to enjoy, but that's what anyone should do for their mental health if they're not actually enjoying it.

I completely agree with the OP and it's really frustrating to lose after certain number of wins. It happens for me, but there's no use in getting frustrated because that's how they made a gem of a game into something even a diehard Mech Arena fan like me despise now. I'm fine with the game on a daily basis because I do win sometimes, but most of my losses still seem unfair (on all matches except for Hangar Showdown). And the main reason I want to play is that I want to have a great 20k SP Hangar with my favourite mechs (Redox, Surge, Eclipse, Deathwalker, Salvor and many others because I'm afraid I'll get banned by Plarium for posting a long message XD.)

We all understand the intention, but at some point shouldn't Plarium suck it up and say you know this is not working out the way we intended so let's fix it? Just fixing the huge SP disparities would be a simple and effective start. In sports we don't normally put a skilled junior team against senior teams just because the junior team has had a great win streak, do we?

Just to add to what I wrote above, while you are adding a challenge for the lower SP player, you are usually giving an easy win to the high sp player. That's not increased competitiveness overall.
