Please add an "are you sure" step to the "claim rewards" button in the in-game inbox. More than once I've accidentally clicked it and received the saved-up goodies earlier than planned :-).
may I ask exactly why you'd want to save up goodies? is it to complete objectives of quests? like "obtain blueprints".

Yup. It often helps make such quests easier. Also sometimes it gives you a fighting chance at top 3 in some of the playoff events, depending on the objectives.
makes sense, I do that already with crates but I thought the rewards in the inbox come with an expiry date on them so can't hold them for longer than typically 6 days isn't it?

There are some specific cases that have a 6 day expiry. Most things expire in 60 days, or if you reach 100 items in your inbox.
