A proposal for the revival of barrage weapons and a new weapon concept

New Weapon Concept (For the revival of Barrage weapons)

**BARRAGE WEAPON CONCEPT**: *VULCAN* (Alt names: Blaze Cannon, Hellstorm, Boiler, SuperNova)

**PERK**: Blast Zone (Alt names: Inferno, Eruption, Armageddon)

Rain fiery judgement on your enemies. The weapon shoots hyper pressurized  thermobaric bolts in bursts of 3. Exploding on impact, dealing damage in a radius and inflicting ‘BURN’ status for a few seconds.

*NOTE*: \[It will fire like cryo launchers in bursts of 3, but in a straight line (no arc) and with the speed of charge rocket projectiles. It takes a few shots for the ‘BURN’ effect (see Hellfire)to apply, similar to hornet but no homing\].

Magazine: 12 (or 15)

Projectile speed: 120

Optimal range: 0-80m

Max range: 110m

Fire rate: 155 rpm

Radius: 5m

Reload: 6s

Hit Cone: 0.7

IMPLANTS: Radius, Reload, Range, Burn Damage

I love barrage weapons and pod gun is amazing but having only 3 weapons and only one of them being legendary needs to change. You've done well making beams relevant again and I hope you consider this.

You clearly put a lot of effort into this and it is looking good, but shouldn't barrage weapons have an arc in their trajectory? Why would they be called barrage weapons otherwise? I mean yes Plarium haven't really been consistent in approach, i.e. Hornets as missiles, Pod Guns aren't really barrage either, nor is Quasher a sniper weapon, more like guided, but let's not extend this group of inconsistent weapon categories even further!:)

Barrage needs to be as you said at the beginning "rain from the sky" type weapon, typically in large quantities of munitions, so not a single shot, but plenty.

I do agree though, we need more barrage weapons, and I would add artillery to this too, there isn't a legendary weapon in the latter category.

I've had this same argument from someone and that is valid. Barrage doesn't necessarily need to arc. The definition as I've found through google is:

"A barrage weapon refers to any system designed to deliver a massive, continuous, or overlapping volume of projectiles over an area. Its primary goal is to overwhelm a target, saturate a zone, or create a protective curtain of firepower rather than relying on pinpoint precision"

I did think about homing or arcing like the other launchers in barrage currently but why i went with this is to have some sort of unique identity. The rapid fire bursts of three will not hit with pinpoint accuracy and the AOE is the man function of the weapon. To apply that burn effect to multiple targets. I think the concept fulfills the criteria and it is not a final decision. This is a CONCEPT for plarium to take the idea and work around it.

Yes the main part is the "barrage" itself, but to me a perfect (and original) example of a real world barrage weapon is the Russian BM-13 Katyusha, and it did have a bit of an arc;)
