Reply to Slobbyknobby's Thread "Refund me for NERFed content"

Your request is kinda pointless because you’re basically repeating the same cycle everyone else talks about, just from the opposite side. People ask for refunds because something they paid for got worse - that’s not confusing, that’s expected. You’re asking “why do people ask this every time,” but the answer is obvious: because it keeps happening.

Also, what you’re saying isn’t fully accurate. It’s not just about companies “not making money.” If people spend money on something because it performs a certain way and then it gets significantly weakened, that’s a value change. So yeah, people are gonna feel like they lost something - that’s why the refund conversation keeps coming up.

And the idea of “just release everything underpowered and buff it later” isn’t some perfect solution either. If content launches weak, people won’t buy or use it in the first place, and then it just gets ignored. That hurts both the game and the players. Plus, buffing and nerfing both still change the value of what people paid for, so the same complaints would still exist.

So really, your post doesn’t solve anything, but just restates the same problem while pretending it’s a different perspective.

I think you make a fair point. But then what do you do about players who refuse to accept that the power of the content can change?

Each piece of content has unlimited value because you can use it to earn in game resources without limits, and that doesn't change when it's NERFed, right?

@ starbreaker - You do make a fair point, but it's one thing to share a player, or more accurately a buyer, perspective, and another to expect a business to abandon their own company perspective. More to the point, if you expect the company to consider the buyer perspective (which you are correct they should) then you should accept the need for the buyer to consider the company perspective, no?

If we can agree on this basic point, then how do you propose the company addresses the constant refund demands - on top of how they have already addressed it via offering mod parts refunds for the mod nerf - for content that gets nerfed in a large part because the very same community demanded it, without abandoning the company profit making longevity perspective? I accept that the community is divided, as it always would be to a larger or smaller extent, but neither for or against voices should be ignored.

Slight correction here they aren't refunding for NERFed mods, they're refunding for levels being revoked from mods where mod level exceeds mech level.

Yes, how I worded it was too vague, but that's still a "refund" in my book.

But it's also not a "NERF" in the traditional sense

Yes, why would I need Ai. Let's leave that particular asset for math.
