When they first added mods to the game, you only needed to hit a certain experience level and I think have at least 3 stars. Then they decided that it unbalanced the game and made it so you need 6 stars. So, even though the game is way more unbalanced, they let the players that got to mods already keep them, and they can buy new mechs and still use mods on them right away, while the rest of ushave to wait to get those 6 stars. I've played about 10 months now and have 2 6 star mechs. I only have 2 because of the change they made for all non legendary mechs have cheaper upgrade points now.
